International Yoga Day was established by the United Nations in 2014, following a proposal by India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The first celebration took place on June 21, 2015.
Celebrated annually on June 21st, the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. This date holds special significance in many cultures around the world.
Celebrated in over 190 countries with millions participating. Major events take place in India, USA, China, and across Europe, featuring mass yoga sessions.
Regular yoga practice improves flexibility, strength, balance, and endurance. It also reduces stress, anxiety, and depression while enhancing mental clarity.
Popular yoga styles include Hatha, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Iyengar, and Kundalini. Meditation and breathing exercises (Pranayama) are integral components.
Yoga brings communities together, transcending cultural and religious boundaries. Many events are free and open to all, promoting inclusivity and unity.
